George Dunfield
DUNFIELD, GEORGE - George Spencer Dunfield, 91, a lifetime resident of Portage Vale, passed away December 18, 2013 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Portage Vale, he was a son of the late Heber N. and Madge (Goddard) Dunfield. George was a retired school bus driver and licensed lumber scaler with H.A. Fawcett & Sons Lumber. He was a member of the Portage Vale Baptist Church, a former deacon and choir member. George enjoyed working on his farm and woodlot and hunting, loved fiddling and country music, but above all his family was most important to him. Survived by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years Verna (Smith); loving children Shirley Armstrong (Gerald) of Portage Vale, Richard (Ellen), Valerie Farrell (Ed) both of Petitcodiac and Leonard (Dawn) of Portage Vale; cherished grandchildren Judy Lounsbury, Jeffery Armstrong, Stacey Perry, Deanna Mullins and Ricky Dunfield; great grandchildren Joshua and Jessica Lounsbury, Ryan and Ethan Mullins and Katie and Allie Dunfield; sisters Dot Stewart (late Aldran) of Riverview and Marjorie McNair (late Walter) of Moncton. Predeceased by sisters Marguerite Murray and Mary Middleton and brother Walter Dunfield.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) visiting will be Friday, December 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held from Portage Vale Baptist Church Saturday, December 21 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Alley officiating. Interment at Portage Vale Baptist Church Cemetery.
