With heavy hearts we announce the death of Alexander Edward 'Sandy' Hicks, 74, of Amherst,suddenly at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday, December 17, 2014. Born in Amherst, Sandy was a son of the late E. Clair and Margaret Hicks.
Sandy had been a lifelong resident of Amherst and could often be seen walking his dog around town. He lived at the Centennial Villa for the past ten years with many visits to the shore.
He will be sadly missed by his sister, Betty (Bob) MacLaren, of Amherst; a nephew Clair Roberts, of Amherst and a niece Katharine (Mark) Kociancic and their children, Katelyn and James, all of New Jersey; two step-nephews, Tyler and Craig, and their families; as well, he will be remembered by many other family members.
There will be no visitation by request. A family graveside service will be held from the Amherst Cemetery in the spring with a celebration of Sandy's life at the cottage in the summer. Donations in memory of Sandy may be made to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, The Cumberland County Museum & Archives, or a Charity of Choice.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Centennial Villa, Amherst, for their kindness and compassion to Sandy.
