August 20, 1920 –December 19, 2013
On Thursday, December 19, 2013, Jean Norton of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Montague, P.E.I., passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years.
Jean was born in Cardigan, P.E.I., and raised in the Boston, Massachusetts area. She married Fred in 1955; they first settled in Saint John, N.B., then moved to P.E.I., where they raised their three children. The couple moved to Alberta in 1988 to be near family.
Jean will be forever remembered by her children: Douglas (Susan), David (Christine), and Ruth (William) Petker; grandchildren: Michael, James, Kelsey, Matthew (Taylor), John, Laura and Kevin; brother, Ronald (Ruth) Nickerson; nieces and nephews: Wayne (Judy) Nickerson, Gary (Marsha) Nickerson, Rosina (Dr. Barry) Norris, Pauline (Ron) Friesen, Kathryn (Louis) Wilchynski and Eileen Beck; as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick, in 2010 and by her infant son, James.
The funeral service was held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Church of Christ in Grande Prairie with Pastor Alan Jones officiating. Interment followed at the Grande Prairie Cemetery.
