With deep sadness we announce the passing of Shirley Beatrice Wall on January 4th, 2014 at the age of 76, in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Hospital in Halifax, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Beatrice (Anstey) Vey and her son, Todd William Wall. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bill, son Jamie (Sandy), Victoria BC, and daughter Kim, Vancouver BC, loving grandson, Chase and daughter in law, Michelle. Sisters, Jeanette Saunders (Roy), Joan Tucker (Reg), Louise Parrell (Gerry), Judy Sullivan (Terry) and Rosemary (George), Brother Eli Vey (Sandra) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A graduate of Macpherson Academy, St. John's, NL, Shirley graduated from Highland View Hospital School of Nursing in Amherst, NS. She held a post-graduate degree in Psychiatry and received a BN degree from Dalhousie University. During her remarkable 50 year nursing career, she served in various roles and administrative positions in the Atlantic region. Shirley was very well respected, loved, and known within the nursing community. She had an amazing sense of humor, remaining loyal to her Newfoundland roots, never ceasing to enjoy the culture and always quick to engage in communication with a fellow Newfoundlander.
