John Patrick Shreenan, 82, of Lansdowne passed away in his home suddenly in his sleep on January 11th 2014.

Born October 3rd 1931 in Stellarton, he was the son of the late Frank and Myrtle Shreenan.

John served in the Korean War with the PPCLI 2ed Battalion, A Company.
After his military service he and his wife, Kathleen moved to Montreal where he worked at the Weston Company as an industrial mechanic for a number of years. They then moved back home and lived in Lansdowne, for the rest of his life, where he managed his own hobby farm providing organic food for his family.

Close to his heart were his family, his love of music as well as the company of his dog, Tina. John loved to laugh and share his love for music with anyone who was willing to listen. In his later years he loved grocery shopping day where he got to talk to all the friendly staff at the superstore.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years Kathleen (Stewart), the backbone of the family;
Sons Pat (Carolyn), Mike (Minnie), Peter (Donna), Frank; daughters Susan (Ernie) Gostock, Kathy (granddaughter Maddie) Shreenan, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Surviving twins are his sister Marion (Bernard) Hoare and his brother Burton (Dodie) Shreenan. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his sister Gloria Morrison, and his brother Robert Shreenan.

The family will receive visitors from 2-4pm and 7-8pm Tuesday January 14th in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel.
Funeral service will be held in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel Wednesday January 15th at 11am with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Cremation to follow, Burial will take place in the Lorne Cemetery at a later date.
A reception will follow the service at the Westville Legion Branch #35
Donations in John’s memory may be made to L.O.R.D.A. (Lansdowne Outdoor Recreation Development Association) or to the S.P.C.A.
The Royal Canadian Legion Br# 35 will meet at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home to conduct their tribute service.
