With great sadness and love, we regret to announce the passing of Florence Anne Locke on Jan. 12, 2014, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born and raised in River Ryan, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Harriett and Barney Quinn.
Florence was a dedicated and passionate teacher for 31 years at St. Michael's School as well as working with the Speech and Hearing Department.
Surviving are her sons, Michael (Shelley), Medicine Hat, Alta., Gerald (Nancy), Enfield, N.S.; daughter, Jennifer (Guy Lamey), New Victoria, N.S.; six grandchildren, Lindsey, Jillian, Gerald, Victoria, Joseph and Thomas; four sisters, Joanie (Gerald) Burke, Bernice (Lionel) King, River Ryan, Greta (Leo) MacKinnon, New York, and Lorraine (David) Sheppard, Lingan, N.S.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Shirley (Mickey) MacKinnon and husband Chester Webb.
In honour of her wishes, there will be a private family visitation at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014. Cremation will follow. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Friday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan.
