It is with sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Ester (AuCoin) Muise, 94, on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Cheticamp, she was a daughter of the late Amedee and Anne (Doucet) AuCoin.
Margaret was a member of the Parish Church of St. Leonard. She was employed as a cook at New Waterford Hospital for 20 years and then went on to work for Muise's Dairy for another 15 years. Margaret enjoyed knitting, playing cards (especially tarabish), and crocheting blankets which she did faithfully for all grand and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Evelyn (Jim) Flemming, Annie Mae (Ray) MacKenzie, both of New Waterford; son, Pat Muise, Ottawa; brother, Joe AuCoin (Sadie May), Cheticamp; sister, Mary Ann Maillet, Cheticamp; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret was predeceased by sons, Bernie and David, daughter-in-law, Mary, first husband Joseph, second husband William, sisters, Louise Desveaux, Adele AuCoin, Yvonne Bourgeois, brothers Johnny and Leo AuCoin.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
