TUPPER, Charles Valentine, 92 of Bridgetown passed away peacefully January 11, 2014 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Tupperville, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Nina V. (Robinson) Tupper. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He operated a sawmill in along with running the farm in Tupperville. During his farming years, he was active in the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and worked as a carpenter on many local projects. He served overseas during World War II with the RCEME where he worked as a mechanic. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 33, Bridgetown receiving his 50 year medal and in 1984 became a life member of Branch No. 33. In his earlier years he was an adherent of the United Church of Canada and later on an adherent of the Salvation Army. Charlie was very interested in local history and had a cherished group of close friends. He is survived by a sister, Marilyn Tompkins, Kelowna, B.C.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 1st wife, Margaret Caldwell, 2nd wife, Dorothy Sabean; brother, Allan and a niece. The Royal Canadian Legion held their service on Thursday, January 16 followed by visitation. Funeral service was held Friday, January 17 with Capt. Paul Blake officiating, all from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown. Cremation to follow and inurnment will be at a later date in the Round Hill Cemetery.
