May 17, 1937 - January 24, 2014 - Passed peacefully away on January 24, 2014 at the Lions Manor Nursing Home in Placentia, Helena Petronilla (Bennett) Whelan of Placenita, formerly of Rushoon, at the age of 76. Predeceased by her husband, Cyril, her parents Mary & James Bennett, her sisters Ann Picco, Violet Ivany & Carrie Laurie. Her brothers Richard, Patrick & James Bennett. Leaving to mourn her sister Bertha Picco (Cornelius). Her brothers Con Bennett (Patsy), Joseph Bennett (Alice), William Bennett (Irene). Her sisters-in-law Agnes & Josephine Bennett. Her brother-in-law Francis Whelan (Marie). A very special great nephew, Chuck Norman, who always called her Nan. Two very special nieces Linda & Donna. Very special friends Theresa & Madonna. A large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. Special thanks to the staff of Placentia Health Care & Lions Manor Nursing Home for their care & compassion shown to Helena during her stay. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral Home Placentia. Visitations on Saturday, January 25 from 4 PM to 9 PM. Sunday, January 26, from 2 PM to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial to take place at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia on Monday, January 27 at 11AM. Interment to follow at the Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted.
