Blanche Elsie Abbott, a resident of Gables Lodge, Amherst (formerly, Taylor St., Whitney Pier), passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Cumberland County Regional Hospital, Amherst, N.S.
Born in Bonavista, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Deborah (Fleming) Etsell.
Blanche was employed as housemother for the Sydney City Hospital School of Nursing. Following her retirement as housemother, she went to work at the Cape Breton Regional Vocational School, Sydney.
Surviving are her daughter, April (Robert) Moore, Port Hastings and grandsons, Kyle and Jordan.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 2008.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday 11 a.m., with Rev. Eugene Fisher officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
