It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John 'Jackie' Donovan, 59, of Bras d’Or, on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Corner Brook, Nfld.
Born in Sydney Mines on Jan. 17, 1955, he was the son of the late Thomas and Renelda ‘Babs’( Butts) Donovan.
Jackie loved hunting, and fishing in Baddeck Bay. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children; Andrea, Jonathan and Cathy, and his grandchildren; Broady, Jacey, Jenna and Jacob. Also left to mourn are his brothers and sisters; Valerie (Norman), Paulette (Jake), Jennie Ann (Donnie) and Walter (Kelly), friends Donnie and Lori Bennett, his little buddy Ethan Bennett, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Wanda Mae Lomond.
Visitation for Jackie Donovan will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating.
