It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Margaret Vaughan Sellars, on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital with her children by her side.
Born in Lakeview, Ont. on May 31, 1936, Margaret was the daughter of the late George Daniel and Annie Margaret Patricia (Braid) Patterson.
Margaret was a retiree of the TD Bank, Mayflower Mall, Sydney. Her life’s devotion was family and work. Margaret was a longtime resident of Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Margaret is survived by daughter, Donna (Charles) Mills; son, Ernest; granddaughters Natasha and Ashley; grandson, Luke and great-granddaughters, Leslie and Savannah. Also surviving are sisters, Helen Williams and Linda Lopez; as well as brothers, Charles (Lilly), Robert (Barb), Harold Leslie (Annie), James (Diane) and James (Gail) Oke.
Besides her parents and former husband, Leslie, Margaret was also predeceased by brothers, Daniel, Reginald, George, Arthur and Eric.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and a chapel service will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will take place in Union Grove Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Maple Hill Manor for the outstanding kindness, care and compassion given to our mother throughout the years. As well, we would like to thank Dr. P.W. Littlejohn, Dr. Anne Francis D’Intino and the staff of the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for the care of our mother during the past few weeks.
