Agnes Reid

Agnes Nikoline (nee Alexandersen) Reid, late of Birch Hills, SK was delivered into the arms of God on February 7, 2014 in Weldon, SK. She resided at the Weldon Country Villa until her passing at the age of 85 years. Aggie was born on March 4, 1928 in the Northern Light District. She attended public school there and loved to play baseball on an all girls team. After graduation she met Lewis Reid and they were happily married on November 14, 1952 in Oshawa, Ontario. Aggie and Lewis made their home near Crystal Springs on the Reid family farm. They were blessed with three sons, one born in 1953 and a set of twins in 1955. Aggie attended Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon and graduated as a Nurse’s Aide. She found employment at the Wakaw Union Hospital and finished her career in Birch Hills, SK. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, hardanger embroidery, cross-stitch, games and puzzles. Aggie enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. Purple Petunias and red geraniums were some of her favourites. She had an out of the ordinary sense of humor and a great love for music. She enjoyed playing piano, guitar, and singing. She was involved at the Glad Tidings Tabernacle for many good years. Agnes will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Larry (Arleen) Reid of Ladysmith B.C., Dale Reid (Eleanor Matice) of Birch Hills, SK and Don (Marlene) Reid of Birch Hills, SK; her grandchildren: Angela (Don) Carriere, Krista Reid (Yuri Moneny), Kelly (Jen) Reid, Carrie Stevenson (Jon Fraser), Trevor (Shawna) Reid, Lindsay (Steve) Zacharias and Stephanie Reid; her great-grandchildren: Sarah and Alex Carriere, Valencio Moneny, Cody and Jesse Reid, Ethan, Jadyn and Joshua Reid, Keziah, Carter and Sydney Zacharias; her sister Anna (Orville) Hegg, her sister-in-law Nora Alexandersen, and her brother-in-law Warren Reid. Agnes was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Lewis Reid, her parents John & Alice Alexandersen, her brother William Alexandersen and her sister Ethel LaRoche. A Public Visitation will take place on Friday, February 14, 2014 – 7:00 pm, MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St. E, Prince Albert, SK. The Celebration of Agnes’ Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 – 11:00 am, Lake Park Baptist Church, Birch Hills, SK with Pastor Rod Gabriel officiating.
