The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Perrin’s Clinton View Lodge, Clinton, on Sunday, November 2, 2008, of Mary “Irene” Gallant (nee Arsenault) of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 96 years. Irene was born on January 28, 1912, in Egmont Bay, P.E.I., to her late parents Tim and Loretta Arsenault. Beloved wife the late Fred (Holman) Gallant and loving mother of Ernie (June) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her four grandchildren, her seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, along with several nieces and nephews. Survived by her sister, Corinne Arsenault of Summerside. Besides her parents and her husband, Irene was predeceased by her son Allan (Yip), her brothers, Ernest, Leo, Leonard and Sid, and her sisters, Exineina, Madeline, Rita, Aldea and Bella. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Tuesday, November 4, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Irene’s memory to the Digital Mammography Unit of the Prince County Hospital or Perrin’s Clinton View Lodge Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated.
