It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a loving soul mate, devoted father, doting Grampy, and faithful brother, Charles Moore.
Born in Sydney, Jan. 11, 1951, he was the son of the late Fred and Irene (Sheppard) Moore.
Charlie passed away at the Toronto General Hospital while awaiting a lifesaving lung transplant for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Although our miracle was not to be, he never gave up his valiant fight to the very end.
In his earlier years, he was a member of the LIU, Local 1115, working on many construction projects in the Cape Breton area prior to relocating to Ottawa where he was employed until he retired in 2012 due to ill health. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who took great enjoyment in life’s simpler pleasures, displayed great pride in his building projects, was an accomplished cook, but lived to tease his grandchildren. No problem was ever too big or too small for him to solve and his advice was dispensed with great modesty.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 40 years, Kenna (MacLeod); his son, Jason (Sophie Lafontaine), Ottawa; daughter, Jennifer (Sean) Forrester, Oshawa, and his 10 grandchildren who, to him, were his pots of gold at the end of the rainbow — Brian, Bailey, Devon, Anabelle, Jordan, Calum, Sam, Teagan, Owen and Charlie. He is also survived by sisters, Christine (John) White, U.K., Donna (John) Landry, Nancy (Jackie) Polegato; brothers, Wayne (Shirley), George (Lorraine); sister-in-law, Marilyn and by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Walter.
He will be missed by his faithful companion, Maggie.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 with visitation from 1-3 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, Alexandra Street, with a memorial service immediately following. Reception to follow.
