JONES, WALTER F. – At the Charlotte County Hospital on Friday, February 14th, 2014; Walter “Wally” Frederick Jones, husband of Carol (Bebeau) Jones of St. Andrews, NB. Born in Milltown, NB he is the son of the late Thomas & Margaret Jones. Walter was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He served overseas with the RCR’s, with the rank of Sgt. Returning home from the war he worked in connection with a branch of the RCR in distributing clothing. Upon retirement he joined with Canada Border Services. He was first posted with St Stephen - Milltown and was later transferred to St. Andrews where he worked in areas such as Grand Manan, Campobello, and Deer Island. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Passamaquoddy Branch # 8 serving in many different capacities. Surviving in addition to his wife Carol are his son Shawn (Bev MacFarlane) of St. Andrews, NB, 5 daughters Lorie Cummings (Wayne) of Halifax, NS, Nancy Welles (Clayton) of St. Andrews, NB, Carolann Brander(Scott) of Moncton, NB, Evelyn Morrison (Rob) and Dawn Maskill (Shawn) all of Fredericton, NB, 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 2 sisters Louise Kelley of Calais, ME, and Eleanor Taylor (Bill) of Ontario, several cousin, nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Resting at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 212 Parr Street from where the visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 pm only. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February, 18th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the church hall. The interment will take place at a later date in the spring in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Arthritis Society or to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
