Lieu de décès : Sydney Mines
Date de décès : 10 mars 2014

With tearful eyes and broken hearts, we, the family of Jacqueline (Gordon) Tobin announce the death of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, who passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 10, 2014.
Born in Sydney Mines on Oct. 18, 1932, Jacqueline was the daughter of the late Harry Gordon and Josephine (MacKinnon) Gordon, Gates.
A stay-at-home mom, she devoted her life to family and friends. Her deep and ever constant love for her children and grandchildren was clearly displayed by the many tireless hours spent volunteering with organizations such as minor hockey, minor baseball, figure skating and school groups, all of which her loved ones were members. She never missed a hockey or baseball game played by her grandchildren, and she will always be remembered as their biggest fan. Over the years Jacqueline was involved in a bowling league, a girls club filled with friends, St. Pius X CWL, Sunday school teacher, and of late her special circle of friends who met twice daily at Robyn’s coffee shop.
Mom’s love, generosity, patience, kindness and compassion were her trademarks. She willingly and selflessly cared for so many individuals in time of need, family and friends alike.
Left to mourn is her soul mate and husband of 60 years, Gerald; her son, Chris (Deanna); daughters, Gail and Kim (Don); and above all else her grandchildren, Adam, Ryan (Anne Marie), Christopher (Lisa), Michael (Marisa), Jordan, Tyler and Jenna, whom she loved and cherished endlessly. Also surviving is her sister Evelyn Moulins; sister-in-law, Donalda Ferguson, who was more like a sister to her; and a very special aunt, Fannie Prince.
Besides her parents, Jacqueline was predeceased by her stepfather, Earl Gates, sister, Lena and brothers, Harry, Johnny, Earl and Jerry.
Special words go to Dr. Michel McKeough, Louise McKeough, staff of 4 West, the VON and Palliative Care for your kindness and compassion.
By her request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 2 p.m. in Holy Family Church (formerly St. Pius X), with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacqueline’s memory may be made to Cape Breton Palliative Care or a charitable organization of one’s choosing.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
‘Be with the angels, Mom
You were our angel on Earth.’
