It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Marion Eileen Wadman on March 19, 2014, in Taigh Na Mara nursing home
Born Feb. 14,1929, known to most as Peggy and also Granny she was raised in Donkin and later Glace Bay. She married Lloyd James 'Sonny' Wadman and worked long hours at Tartan Lunch, Sonny’s seafood, and full time at Old Glace Bay General and the lunch lady and kitchen staff at the New Glace Bay General.
She loved to walk, play darts, bowl and sang with Coal Town Singers. She took line dancing one year, and was game for anything.
She was predeceased by her late husband, Lloyd 'Sonny' Wadman; father, Albert; mother, Beatrice (MacPherson) and two brothers, Lorne and Douglas.
She will be sadly missed by sons, Richard (Debbie) St. John’s, Nfld., Gary (Estelle), Donkin, Michael (Margot), Ottawa; daughters, Sharon (Martin), Greenwood and Charlene (Clifford), Glace Bay; seven grandchildren, Shauna, Karen, Janice, Thomas, Terry, Shaun and Nichole, also 10 great-grandchildren.
In following Peggy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Monday, March 24, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. with funeral service Monday, March 24 at 3 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Glace Bay Food Bank.
Thanks so much to Dr. MacIntosh, Dr. MacLean, all the staff at Taigh Solas and Taigh Na Mara, you made everything go a lot easier with all your kindness and support.
