Jean Elizabeth Norman - 88, of Grand View Manor, Berwick, formerly of New Minas, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Port Williams, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Elsie (Corkum) Atwater. Jean enjoyed being a housewife and homemaker, loved her family and took great delight in family gatherings. She was an avid bowler and was active in the New Minas 50-Plus Club, where she was a life member. She was also a member of the Port Williams United Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Eugene "Bob", Grand View Manor; a son, Stephen, Kentville; a sister, Helen Whalen, New Minas; two brothers, Jerry Atwater, New Minas and Ralph (Eileen) Atwater, Aylesford; two grandchildren, Jamie and Shelley; three great grandchildren, Kyle, Wilhelm and Kaiden; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Atwater, Coldbrook and Annie Norman, Saint John, NB. She was predeceased by three brothers, Wylie, Murray and Donald. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in the Port Williams United Baptist Church, Reverend David Ogilvie officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
