THORBURN – Kevin Stewart Long, 56 of Thorburn Road, passed away April 4, 2014 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Mary (Chisholm) Long, Thorburn and the late Clyde Long.
He was a former employee of Trenton Works, a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, where he served on the Board of Managers.
Surviving besides his mother Mary Long, are sisters: Sharon (Armand) Lorge, Ardyth (Geordie) Palmer, both of Thorburn; Audrey (Tim) Goswell, MacLellan’s Brook; a brother Robert, Coalburn; nieces: Erin (Scott) Neufeld, Jan (Mark) Halliday, Elana (Jeff) Palmer, Justine (Jamie) Kelly; nephews: Craig, Dana (Angela), Matthew (Allison) Lorge, Brennan and Andrew Goswell; an aunt Phyllis Constantino, Waltham, Mass., cousins Cheryl (Red) MacKean, Judy (Ron) Carruthers, Janice Cruikshank, Jim Cruikshank; and very special extended family: Margie, Colin and Leah Johnston.
Cremation to take place.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday from the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, with Rev. Jeff Lackie presiding. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in the Gairloch Cemetery.
