It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marion Evelyn Lowerison age 89, wife of the late Thomas Lowerison, on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Gables Lodge surrounded by her loving family.
Born February 21, 1925 in Amherst, Marion was the daughter of the late Charles Wellington and Maude Evelyn (Milner) Hastings.
In her early years, Marion worked for Woolworth in Amherst.
Marion lived most of her life in Amherst, except for the years spent in Dorchester and Springhill where her husband was employed. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Amherst where she was active with the Mothers Association as well as C.G.I.T.
Marion will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Donna (Dirk) Larooi, Quispamsis, NB and son, Ronald (Christina), Middle Sackville, NS; beloved grandchildren, Lysbeth Larooi, Saint John, NB, William (Sarah) Larooi, Cochrane, AB, and Heather (Tom Steneson) Lowerison, Middle Sackville, NS; “precious” great granddaughter, Adelynn Larooi, Cochrane, AB; Also surviving are her sister, Greta Purdy and brother, Ronald Hastings both of Amherst and brothers, Eldon (Hilda) Hastings, Dartmouth, NS, and Gerald (Marjorie) Hastings, Fredericton, NB; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her husband Thomas of 65 years, Marion was predeceased by sisters, Gladys in infancy, Grace Hastings and Frances Smith.
A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Reception will follow in the church vestry. Interment will be at a later date in the Amherst Cemetery.
Family flowers only please, memorial contributions in Marion’s memory may be made to the Restoration Fund of First Baptist Church or charity of your choice.
