It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ron on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
Born Sept. 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice McManaman.
He was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife Lextelle of 50 years; daughter, Marla, Oshawa, Ont.; special grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Oshawa, Ont.; nieces, nephews, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law who loved him dearly.
He was an avid fisherman, which was his hobby with his best buddy Lorne Cantwell and Sid Boutlier and sister-in-law Sally.
He was a member of the Bras d'Or Seniors and Pensioners Club and was a devoted crib player challenging his friends Charlie, Jackie, George, John, Joe and Mary Francis.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son-in-law Dale, sister Mary, brother Gerald, father and mother-in-law Liza and Bennie Young, brothers, John D. and Benjamin Young and a very special sister-in-law Marie Allen.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. A reception will follow at the Bras d'Or Seniors and Pensioners Hall, Main Street.
Donations in memory may be made to the 'Raise the Roof Fund' at St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
