It is with great sadness that we the family announce the sudden passing of Catherine O’Brien at home on April 16, 2014. She was born in English Harbour, Newfoundland on July 31, 1940.
She was the daughter of the late Dorothy and James O’Brien.
She was a long-time member of St. Anthony Daniel Parish.
She is survived by her son, Kevin, Sylvan Lake, AB; sisters, Florence (Gerald) Penny, Jean MacPhee, Patricia (Frank) Dariou; and brothers, Francis (Corry) and Ronnie.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Stephen Dollimont, NFLD.
She was formerly employed at St. Rita Hospital nursing office and for many years at the K-Mart until her retirement.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at Chant’s Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday April 24, at St. Anthony Daniel Parish with Father William Burke officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery.
