DONNELLY, SHIRLEY V. - 1927-2014 - Miramichi - Shirley Vivian Donnelly, widow of the late Elby W. Donnelly, of Black River Bridge, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the age of 86. Born in Black River Bridge, on September 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Isabel (Fowlie) MacRae. She was a homemaker and a retired R.N.A. Following their move back to Black River Bridge, from Moncton, she became the last postmistress for the community of Black River Bridge. She was a dedicated member of St. Stephen's United Church, Black River Bridge; an Elder and Member of Session; former Sunday School Teacher; a member of the Black River Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by one daughter, Blyn Jardine (Doug), of Napan; one son, Grant Donnelly (Sylvia), of Black River Bridge; two daughter in laws, Judy Donnelly, of Napan and Pam Donnelly, of Moncton; five sisters, Kathleen Estabrooks (Glen), of Moncton, Roberta Walsh, of Miramichi; Nan MacDonald (Cameron), of Black River Bridge, Betty Searle, of Black River Bridge, Edna Drew (Reg), of Sioux Lookout, Ont.; eleven grandchildren, Jeffery, Krista, Selena, Kari, Heather, Mark, Tisha, Kellie, Scott, Kelsey; fifteen great grandchildren, Terri Lynn, Hannah, James, Brigid, Caleb, Cole, Jonah, Paige, Rylan, Jasmin, Hilary, Avery, Bentley, Jace, Jove; two great great grandchildren, Cash and Kingston; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Elby, in 2008; two sons, Marven and Brian Donnelly; one grandson, Gregory Donnelly; one sister, Edith McQuarrie.
Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Sunday, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Stephen's United Church, Black River Bridge, on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 2 pm, conducted by Penny Postlethwaite. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery, later in the spring.
