WHALEN, MICHAEL E. - Michael E. Whalen, 58, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of Edith (Figg) Whalen and the late Herbert Whalen. Mike was employed as a truck driver with Armour Transportation Systems and attended Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid golfer, liked antique motor vehicles and enjoyed playing backgammon and guitar. In addition to his mother, Edith, Mike will be sadly missed by his loving wife of seven years, Darlene (Sipprell) Whalen; cherished sons, Jason (Bonnie) of Moncton and Philip “Phil” (Megan) of Courtenay, BC; precious grandson, Shawn Whalen; sisters, Theresa Short (Terry) of Camrose, AB, Cathy Bailie of Penticton, BC and Maureen Nelson (Don) of Chilliwack, BC; brother, Patrick “Pat” Whalen of Chilliwack, BC; special friends, Richard and Sherry Stewart. In addition to his father, Mike was predeceased by daughters, Patricia and Susan and sister, Cecile Fortin. The family would like to thank Dr.’s Haché, Belliveau , Harb, as well as all the staff of The Moncton Hospital, for the care and compassion shown to Michael during his illness.
Resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) with no visitation hours by personal request. Funeral Service to be held at Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dale Thistle officiating. Reception in the Church Hall following the service.
