Pat McPherson, 75, of Turner Street, Glace Bay, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alex and Anastasia (Tracey) McPherson.
Pat graduated from St. FX University with a BA and B.Ed and taught at St. Anne’s School, Glace Bay for 25 years. He was very active in his church and community. Pat loved to bake and cook and was also an avid reader.
Pat is survived by his wife, Colleen (McIsaac) McPherson; two sons, Paul (Paula), Halifax, Craig (Cavell), Calgary; one sister, Joan Dorsey, Hamilton; three brothers, Alfred, Vernon (Lois), both in Ontario, John (Leona), Winnipeg; three grandchildren, Alex, Colin, Rory and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Frances Gillard.
Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Rev. Dan Boudreau is Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, followed by interment in the parish cemetery. All are invited to join the family for a reception in the church hall, directly below the church.
