It is with great sadness and a profound sense of love that our family announces the passing of Florence Mary Posylek (nee Gallant) in the early hours of Friday, April 25, 2014 at the age of 77.
Predeceased by her husband, George (1999), she was the loving mother of Terry (Jennifer), Rick and Randy. Beloved Bubcha to Isaak, Olivia, Max and Luc. Sister to June (Leo Kelly), Joanne (Johnny Byers), Paul Gallant and Ivan Doucette; and predeceased by brothers, Duddie, Sonny, Alan, and sisters, Marge and Ella.
Flo was a true “Prince Edward Islander” who never turned down an opportunity to go back to the family cottage in the beautiful fishing village of North Rustico. And this connection with North Rustico is still deeply felt by many in the Posylek family.
We have always appreciated the long, hard hours of work and many sacrifices that Mom made on our behalf. She was an excellent cook, and passed along her love of cooking to us all. She also appreciated the simple things in life that she and Dad worked so hard to attain; and instilled in us a similar sensibility. We will all miss her advice, common sense, honesty, loyalty and true empathy for those less fortunate.
Mom’s ashes will be taken to North Rustico this summer with plans for a memorial mass at Stella Maris parish church, and distribution of her and Dad’s ashes off the north shore.
Special thanks to the professional and caring staff and volunteers at RVH, as well as the compassionate and supportive staff and volunteers at the Simcoe Hospice for the gentle care they provided to Mom and their kindness toward the family during a very difficult time.
