It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Mary on Wednesday April 30, 2014 at the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Born in Whitney Pier, May 14, 1928.
Mary is survived by her children, Anna Marie MacPhee, Alberta, Paul Dickson, Sydney River, Everett (Vera) Dickson, River Bennett, Denise (Gordon) MacKinnon, Truro, Ernie (Mable) Dickson, Truro, and Joslynn (Layne) White, Howie Center. Mary is also survived by her brothers, Ernie (Audrey) Ranni, Michael (Vina) Ranni, sisters, Angelina (Murdock) Cormier, Concetta Gelinas, Margaret (David) MacDonald, Gloria Chenier, Donna (David) Boudreau,her dear friend Alex MacEachern; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Julius and Mary (McGrady) Ranni, first husband, Ernest 'Barney' Dickson, brothers, Nickie, Joseph 'Sonny', Danny, Julius, Ronnie and Tommy Ranni, as well as sisters, Deloris (Gordon) March, Victoria (Manny) Namo, daughters-in-law, Kay, Lydia and son-in-law, Francis.
Known to many as 'Tootsie' and by her grandchildren as 'Nin' she will be forever remembered for her quick wit, bright smile, her sense of humor, little one liners, her perseverance and unconditional love of family. Mary was a hard working business woman and an amazing role model.
Visitation will take place Monday, May 5, 2014 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maple Hill Manor, Alzheimer’s Society or charity of choice.
