Willis Brace, 79, of Scarborough, Ont., passed away early Saturday, May 10, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Willis was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Sydney, N.S., to Frank Daniel and Alice Brace (nee Crowe).
He was a former member of the reserve army in Sydney and was a former member of the Johnny Nemess boxing club in Sydney. Willis worked for Pilkington Glass Company in Ontario for close to 30 years and retired in 1993.
Willis is survived by his loving wife, Veronica Brace (nee McPherson) and his children, David (Margaret), Brian (Michelle), Barry (Nicole), Dianna (Preston Foster), Darlene (Jerry Gulliford), Stephen and Darryl (Candy). He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Daniel Brace and Alice Brace (nee Crowe) and siblings Arthur, Frank, Margaret, Catherine, Freddie, Walter and Alice.
Willis was a witty and mischievous man who loved a good joke. He enjoyed travelling to Cape Breton Island every spring to spend the summer at his bungalow on the edge of the ocean. Willis loved his children and grandchildren and always wanted the best for them. He was well loved by his family and will be greatly missed. The memories of his life will be closely cherished by his family, friends, and loved ones.

The funeral, visitation, and reception will take place at O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. East, in Scarborough.
Visitation times will be Sunday, May 11, from 7–9 p.m. and Monday, May 12, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place Tuesday, May 13 at 11 a.m. The interment will follow at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill, Ont.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto would be greatly appreciated.
