Date de naissance : 13 novembre 1951

Lieu de décès : Leitches Creek
Date de décès : 11 mai 2014

With heavy hearts and crying eyes and with our hands tied by a higher being, we had to let go of our husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, brother-in-law and friend, but especially a Dad and Grampy. John passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Angus and Kathleen (Yorke) Green.
John lived his life with passion. He craved contact, hugs, love and dished them out freely in return. He protected with a passion. There was no length he would not go to when it came to protecting his family and friends. If he thought something had to be said (whether you wanted to hear it or not) he said it, no back doors with John. But these were the things that made him who he was ... and we loved knowing he loved us, protected us and made us face life head on.
He was also a fisherman, a hunter, a reader, a fixer, a negotiator, a sensible thinker, and a big teddy bear at times. Though he pretended to be uninterested in all the animals we had over the years, the ducks and animals here often heard him chatting away to them and would often respond with their own voices. Andy’s dog Ceilidh, would practically turn herself inside out when she saw John ... dancing and voicing her joy at seeing him.
John is survived by his wife Ina (MacLean), his loving son Andy (a much loved daughter-in-law Julie), a loving daughter Susan and very special and loved grandchildren Luke and Mya, who melted his heart from the moment he held them and they have kept him tightly wrapped around their finger ever since. He was so proud of his titles Dad and Grampy. Also surviving are his sister Nancy (Dave) Lazier, a special uncle, Ronnie (Lorraine) Greene, his aunt Ella Methvin, much loved nieces, nephews and cousins as well as Ina’s family.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his three sisters, Yvonne (late George) Power, Frances (Wayne) Seastrom, Carol (late Brian) Lewis, his uncles, Lew and Tom and his mother and father-in-law Winnie and Murray MacLean.
Visitation for John will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Philip MacCormack officiating.
Cremation will follow.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Our hands have let go but our hearts will never let go ...
