Arthur Edward  Marks

It is with great sadness that the family of Arthur Edward Marks announce his passing on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan.
Born in Sackville, NB he was the son of the late Harold and Thelma (Snowden) Marks. Art was renowned for his skills in the kitchen and cooked for many friends and weddings. In Art’s youth he held various jobs until he learned to cook on the S.S. Carol Lake which sailed on the Great Lakes.
In later years Art worked for the Marine Atlantic Ferry Service between Cape Tormentine, NB and Borden PEI. Art concluded his working career as food service officer at Springhill Correctional Facility.
Art loved the outdoors and was a wonderful gardener. He loved to hunt with his nephew Frank Marks and never missed a season. Art was also an avid fisherman and spent many peaceful hours fishing with his nephews, Arnie Marks and Jim Estabrooks
He was associated with the Amherst Jr. A Ramblers since his youth and for many years was on the executive committee.
Art lived a full and satisfying life and family meant all his children and step children – a man with a big open heart.
Art will be sadly missed by his wife of 22 years Colleen (Flynn) (Nigh) (Arseneault) Marks. His daughter Debra Marks (Gordon Warman) of Hartland, NB her children Natasha (Steve) Lloyd, Jessica Warman Martin and his great granddaughter Sophia Lloyd, step son Kevin (Angela) Fisher of Alberta and their children Christopher, Justin and Chelsea and two step great grandchildren, step son Tim Fisher of Alberta and his children Trevor and Heather and one step great grandchild.
Step daughters Wanda Goodwin and her son Logan, Cindy Goodwin and her daughters Lisa and Sheala, Beth Ann Goodwin – Bateman (Darin) and their children MacKenzie, Carter and Kennedy.
Step daughter Trina Nigh-Phinney (Chris) and their daughter Piper.
Art is also survived by a brother Robert Marks of Welland, ON and sister Laura Hicks of Amherst, NS. and will also be missed by wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brother Ron Marks, sister Margaret Estabrooks and nephew John Estabrooks.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 4pm at the Amherst Revival Centre, Robert Angus Drive, Amherst, NS, Rev. Jonathan Cole officiated.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations in Art’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Cumberland Regional Health Authority through Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (902-667-9906)
