MACMURTRY, Phyllis Maude – Age 88 of Middleton passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Harmony, NS she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Elsie (Crouse) McMaster. In early years Phyllis taught school and later operated her own hairdressing business. After her marriage to Ivan, they owned and operated the Western Tire Store in Middleton for 37 years. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, member of Middleton UCW, member and past deacon of the Middleton Baptist Church; member of the Rebekah Lodge, member of the McMaster Park Committee, Women’s Missionary Society and enjoyed playing bridge. Phyllis is survived by sons, Clayton MacMurtry (Janice MacDonald), Middleton and Robert (Marlene) MacMurtry, South Farmington, sister, Dorene McMaster, Rocknotch Road, Harmony and grandchildren, Mark (Andrea) MacMurtry, Halifax; Jeffrey MacMurtry, Ottawa; Christa MacMurtry, Middleton; Justin MacMurtry, Middleton and Andrea MacMurtry, Middleton and great grandchildren, Noah, Will and Lucy. Besides her parents, she was predeceased her husband, Ivan and sister, Rolene MacCarthy. Visitation was held 2p.m. to 4p.m. and 7p.m.to 9p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448. The funeral service was held 2p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the Middleton Baptist Church, 111 Commercial Street with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the service. Interment in North Kingston Cemetery.
