Gladys Wright was born on February 19, 1918 at the Swift Current
Union Hospital and passed away peacefully May 25, 2014 in the Cabri
Prairie Health Care Centre at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her brother Ole Severson (friend Alice); children, Darlene (Mick) Bos, Larry Svenson, Gail (Gene) Kleim, Curtis (Angie) Svenson, Debbie (Andy) Shirkie; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her parents Peter and Carrie Severson; Cheryl Gail (a daughter in infancy); Clarence Svenson (spouse) in 1959; Robert "Joe" Wright (second husband) in 1990; sister-in-law Irene Severson; mother and father-in-law Birgit and Lars Svenson; sisters-in-law Bernice Tengum and Christine Avis; and brother-in-law Stanley Avis. Gladys attended Scotia School in the Fosterton area. She later married Clarence Svenson in 1939. They lived at White Bear for a few years, then moved to Cabri and purchased some farm land from his Dad. Clarence passed away on May 26, 1959 due to a boating accident. She remained on the farm and with perseverance, a lot of help with the farming, and raising a family, she got through some difficult times. Gladys married Robert Joe Wright of Cabri on November 3, 1973. They enjoyed playing with the Peacock Orchestra and at other community functions. When she was 84 years of age, she said she had "slowed down", and their orchestra now only played on occasion for the "old people" at the Cabri Health Care Centre. Music played an important part in her life, but family always came first. The family sincerely appreciates the support of the community and the care given at the Prairie Health Care Centre for the past 5 years. A family graveside service was held on May 31, 2014 with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating and a come and go tea was held at the Scandia Lutheran Church.
