Mildred Catherine Pike (Hillier)

Date de décès : 12 juin 2014

June 22, 1925 - June 12, 2014: Mildred C. Pike, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed peacefully away on the evening of June 12th at the US Memorial Hospital in St. Lawrence, at the age of 88 years. Mildred, affectionately called "Millie" to those that knew her, was a dedicated wife to Levi, and a devoted and loving mother to their 11 children - Maxine (Rene) Fowler, Vi (Gerald) Fitzpatrick, Diane (Brian) Campbell, Marlene (Robert Parizeau) Pike, Connie (Sean Roche) Pike, Levi Jr., Donna (Steve) McCullough, Debbie Pike, Cate Pike, and Valerie (Mark Lavin) Pike. Millie was predeceased by her dear husband Levi, of 68 years in 2013, and their son Perry in 1967. Millie was also predeceased by her parents Alice and Edgar, and her siblings Mabel, Stanley, Beatrice, Edith, Shirley, John Robert, Reginald, Douglas and Verna. Also mourning Millie?s passing are her 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Millie personified the true meaning of family and motherhood. She had a great affinity for children and a kind and caring nature. She showed great pride in raising her children, being the ultimate "homemaker", and she travelled frequently to spend time with her loved ones. Second to that was her passion for the game of hockey. It was not unusual to have a houseful of family and friends on a Saturday evening to watch "Hockey Night in Canada". Millie also enjoyed playing cards, knitting, and hosting many special family dinners around her dining room table. She had a quick wit and loved to laugh and have fun. Millie always found time to help others and to support community fundraisers. A celebration and service for Millie's life took place at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 16th, 2014 at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in St. Lawrence, NL. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted for St. Matthew's Anglican Church, P.O. Box 396, St. Lawrence, NL AOE 2VO
