The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Monday, June 16, 2014, of Vernon Gallant, of Wellington, aged 86 years. Born in Summerside, he was the son of the late Daniel and Louise (Poirier) Gallant. Survived by his wife Phyllis (MacDonald) Gallant; children Debbie (Boyd) Ross, Charlottetown; Christine (Donnie) Arsenault, Wellington; Joy Gallant, Summerside; Robbie (Ann) Gallant, Fredericton, NB; Matthew Rector Gallant, Toronto, ON; grandchildren Alicia and Patrick Gallant; Jordan and Alex Arsenault; a sister Una Gallant, Bedford, NS; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Eva Nicholson and Antoinette Gallant, in infancy; and by brothers Charles and Ulric Gallant. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Wellington.
