(April 16, 1929 - June 19, 2014) - Claude Noonan Donnelly passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was born in St. John's to Alfred (Danny Delmar) Donnelly - England and Mary (Noonan) Donnelly - St. John's. Claude grew up in St. John's and attended St. Bon's College. He worked at Pepperrell Air Force Base as claims investigator and later worked at Dun & Bradstreet. He had a love for amateur radios and motorcycles. He married Sheila Thistle of Carbonear and they moved there to raise seven children. Claude worked as the Town Clerk of Carbonear. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, The Knights of Columbus and an active member of the RC Church all of his life. He had a very deep faith that sustained him through difficult times. After the children grew up and moved away, Claude and Sheila retired to Mount Pearl. Predeceased by his only son, Daniel Donnelly (1997), and his sister Eileen Roberts (2008). Claude leaves his loving wife of 57 years, Sheila Donnelly - Mount Pearl; daughters: Mary (Ben) Rogers - Paradise, Colleen (Bill) Haynes - Virginia, Lynn (Tim) Miller - Ontario, Patricia (Peter) Bruce - St. John's, Paula Donnelly - Ontario, Dorothy Murphy - Goulds; 10 grandchildren; and twin brother Dan (Agatha) Donnelly - St. John's. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Sunday, June 22, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held from Barrett's Funeral Chapel, at 9:30am on Monday, June 23, 2014. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted.
