Kathrina "Kathy" Lang, age 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Kathy was born on February 3, 1943, at Maple Creek, SK to Ernest & Freda Huber. Kathy and Harold Lang were married on February 14, 1964, at Medicine Hat, AB. While raising their family, Kathy also served as the secretary for the Village of Waldeck for 35 years. She loved baking and cooking and sharing this with others. Some of her fond memories were of travelling to BC to visit relatives, camping, and to Nashville, Memphis, The Grand Ole Opry and Japan. Kathy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold Lang; her family, Janet (Mike) Brodziak of Regina, SK - Corey, Michael and Megan: Shannon (Rod) Bennett of Swift Current, SK - Nicole and Mason: Daren Lang (Cheryl Klassen) of Waldeck, SK - Andrew Young (Daren¹s son) and Paige Klassen (Cheryl¹s daughter): Charlotte (Darryl) Tweed of Sylvan Lake, AB - Brandon; her siblings, Earl (Kathy) Huber, Victor (Jordis) Huber, Herb (Marilyn) Huber, Laura (Walter) Pouteaux and Myrna Swenson; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Douglas Henry Carleton; and by a granddaughter, Alysa Heather Young. Kathy will be truly missed.
The Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 2:00 pm from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Bradley Julien officiating. The pianist for the service was Edith Dyck with special music brought by Mason Bennett singing, "Amazing Grace". Scripture readings were read from Matthew 11:27-30 by Lorri Menke and from Revelation 21:1-7 by Gord Lang. "Mansion Over the Hilltop", Precious Lord Take My Hand", "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" and "Where the Roses Never Fade" were sung by the congregation. The eulogy was shared by Victor Pouteaux. The ushers in the church were Ronald Pouteaux and Donald Pouteaux. Honorary pallbearers were Corey Brodziak, Michael Brodziak, Megan Brodziak, Nicole Bennett, Mason Bennett and Brandon Tweed. The Interment will take place at a later date. In memory of Kathy Lang, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Lutheran Women¹s Missionary League c/o Mount Calvary Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.
