We regret to announce the passing of our father, Donald MacKinnon, at the Northside General Hospital on June 21, 2014
Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Daniel and Kate MacKinnon.
Donald was employed as a welder and was a proud member of local 682 for 41 years. He served for 10 years as a member of the RCR - Paratrooper with the Canadian Armed Forces, finishing in 1965.
Donald is survived by sons, Donald, Halifax, John, Frenchvale; daughter, Adrianna, Frenchvale; brother, Conrad;15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; as well as cousin and friend, Dolsie.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Gwen and special friends, Joan Hatch and Bev Tobin.
There will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. Interment will take place on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
