WELL-KNOWN GREENWICH RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
Ivan Curtis Pulsifer - 85, of Greenwich, Kings County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Friday, June 27, 2014 in Shannex-Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Born in Greenwich, he was a son of the late Howard H. and Neily (Clowry) Pulsifer. In his earlier years, he worked in the well-known Pulsifer family floral business, where he became an accomplished floral designer and remained with the family business until 1967. He then excelled as a life insurance agent for 40 years, where he provided personal, friendly service to clients that he could still remember by name until the time of his passing. Ivan held many volunteer positions throughout the years. He was a coach, a Cub pack leader, and served on the Greenwich Village Commission and with the Greenwich Volunteer Fire Department. He volunteered with the Apple Blossom Festival and used his floral design abilities to design prize winning floats. Ivan also volunteered with the EKM Hospital Foundation, Wolfville, where he was affectionately known as the "Candy Man" by the staff and fellow volunteers. He was a member of the Wolfville Lions Club, where he and Phyllis made many good friends. Ivan was a true family man and liked nothing better than being part of many happy family get-togethers over the years. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years (on July 1, 2014), the former Phyllis Caron; his children, Paul (AnneMarie), Stittsville, Ontario and their children, Andrew (Kayleigh), Ian (Guy), Karen and Brian; Bonnie (Gregg) Morrison, Wolfville and their daughters, Laura (Mark), their children, Dylan and Tessa, Sarah (Stephan) and their son, Christopher; Stephen (Angela), Port Williams and their children, Devin (Heather) and Katelyn; Michael (Lynn), Kentville and their son, Christopher (Melissa) and their daughter, Kaleigh; Douglas (Debbie), Greenwich and their children, Joseph, Nora, Tristan and Delany; two step granddaughters, Melissa (Jon) and their sons, Thatcher and Emmet; Katelyn. He is also survived by a sister, Thelma Gillis, Kentville; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Pulsifer, Kentville; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jennie Marsland and Phyllis Lantz; six brothers, Frederick, Howard, Garth, Judson, Charles and Donald. There was no visitation, by request. The celebration of Ivan's life, followed by a reception, held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A private family burial will take place in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the kindness, compassion and excellent care given to Ivan while he was a resident of both Evergreen Home for Special Care and Shannex-Blomidon Court.
