George Hashem, 79, Howie Centre, passed away in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on June 28, 2014.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John P. and Freda (Hashem) Hashem.
George will be missed by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years Marguerite (MacInnis); sons, Russell (Dawn), John (Jeanette), Joseph (Linda), Robert (Maria), George Jr. (Lorna) and Michael (Kim); daughters, Mary (Nick) and Freda (Rui). George will also be missed by his 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Edward and Abe; sisters, Anne (Sutton) and Adele all of Sydney.
Predeceased by brother, Paul, sisters, Helen (Woodhouse) and Martha (Glancey).
George will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
George was an avid outdoor type who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Keeping with George’s wishes, cremation has occurred and visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Thursday, July 3 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday, July 4, 2014, in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River, Rev. Duaine Devereaux will officiate, followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
