Eric Simmons

Lieu de décès : Stephenville Crossing, Terre-Neuve, Canada
Date de décès : 30 juin 2014

With saddened hearts and grateful thanksgiving for his 88 years of life, we announce the passing of Eric Hugh Simmons at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, on June 30, 2014. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Mercedes (nee Young), his son Randy, daughters Judy (Vince), Valerie (Terry), Vicki (Kelly), and Marsha (Craig). He was a doting grandpa to the five grandchildren he dearly loved: Meredith (Mike), Alex (Emily), Joel (Serina), Rebecca and Andy. He has one surviving sister, Beulah Power, Mount Pearl and sister-in-law Phyllis Simmons, Corner Brook. During the last two years he resided at the Silverwood Manor in Kippens with his wife Mercedes. While there, he enjoyed the care of the wonderful staff and his personal caregivers. He made many new friends, particularly his table mates, and referred to the Silverwood as his home. His entire working career was in the employ of Imperial Oil Company from which he retired in 1982. His postings took him to Stephenville, Gander, Stephenville Crossing, Deer Lake, the Northern Peninsula and finally back to Stephenville Crossing in 1961. There he particularly enjoyed serving his customers in Bay St. George and Bay St.George South. He was often referred to as “the oil man" and fondly reminisced about his many days working at the plant and sometimes delivering oil on the trucks and stopping in to his c-ustomer’s homes. At his request cremation will take place and a private family service will be held in his home town of Whitbourne, NL. There he will be laid to rest with his parents, George and Mary Simmons. Expressions of sympathy can be made through the on-line guest book at Russells Funeral Home, Stephenville.

He has gone to his rest.
