We, the family, regret to announce the passing of our father Louis Francis MacGillivary who passed on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 96.
Born in Louisbourg, he was the son of the late William and Lillian (Tanner) MacGillivary.
Louis was a veteran of the Second World War, where he served overseas.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Main-a-Dieu.
After the war, in his earlier days, dad had a store in Toronto where he started his family, moving back to Little Lorraine in the early '70s, where he spent the rest of his life.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting and was a hard-working man and he kept busy as long as he could. He enjoyed driving in his Dodge Dart, playing the accordian. In his younger years he had his black belt.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara Christina on Nov. 11, 2010, brothers, Billy and George, sister, Mary.
Louis is survived by his children, Barbara (Brian), grandson, Patrick, Belinda (Paul), both of Sydney, Louis Jr., Toronto, Frank, Kentville, Ray, Sault Ste. Marie, and their families. He is also survived by his sisters, Annie, Beulah and Eileen, as well as nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. Private service to be held at a later date.
Donations may be made to the palliative care, Sydney.
