GILBERT VITAL JOSEPH DUMONCEAU
Gilbert Vital Joseph, age 79, passed away at Moose Jaw Union Hospital on July 11, 2014, with his daughters at his side. Dad was born January 12th, 1935 at the family farm by Fife Lake, SK, where he grew up and attended Fife Lake School. He is predeceased by parents, Joe and Denise (Berger) Dumonceau; brothers: Roland, Gaston (Gus), and Louie (in infancy); sister-in-law Paulette Dumonceau. Dad is survived by the mother of his children: Luella Simmons Dumonceau; children: Ruth, Joe, Andy (Terry), Angela (Darin), Debra (Don), Jeanny (Joe), and Kathi, fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Ernie Dumonceau and Robert (Rita) Dumonceau; two sisters-in-law: Marilyn Dumonceau, and Monique Dumonceau as well as numerous other family members. After leaving the family farm, Dad continued to work for farmers until moving to Moose Jaw, in 1970. Dad then took various jobs and finally settled into working at the Empress Hotel until his retirement. Dad loved country music, especially Johnny Cash and he also enjoyed playing cards with the family. In later years he enjoyed outings with his children and visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Gilbert’s Life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., on Thursday July 17, 2014 at 1:30PM. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw S6H 7K7. In living memory of Gilbert, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
