LAFONTAINE: Died peacefully August 6, 2014, at St. Bridgit’s Home, Quebec City, Joan Lafontaine (née Fox), aged 90, widow of Jean Lafontaine and mother of Richard, Michèle, Diane and Marc. Joan was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on January 6, 1924. She was a daughter of Mr. Justice Cyril Fox and Mary (Cashin) Fox, who predeceased her in 1946 and 1956 respectively. She was a sister of Sheila (Fox) Ryan, Cyril Fox Junior and David Fox, and of the late Marie Fox and the late Nora (Fox) Cahill. She had resided for many years in Grande-Rivière (Gaspé), P.Q., following her wedding in 1945 to wartime Army Lieutenant Jean Lafontaine. A memorial service will be held later.
