JEWETT, ELDON "CLAIR" - The passing of Eldon “Clair” Jewett, husband of Maxine (MacMullin) Jewett, occurred on Saturday, August 09, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 25, 1935 in Smithfield, NB he was the son of the late Eldon Lewis and Edna Mae (Pollock) Jewett. Clair began his career with Canadian Pacific Railway in Toronto, ON then returned to Fredericton, NB to work for City Sales and Service as an Oil Burner Service Technician before becoming owner operator of Jewett’s Home Heating. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church. He enjoyed his Thursday nights with the Elm Tree Square Dance Club and Saturday nights at Speedway 660, Geary, NB. In addition to his wife, Clair is survived by his daughters, Apryl Jewett and Tracy Gatto (Greg); grandsons, Matthew and Alex all of Fredericton, NB; sister, Luann Greer (Donnie) of Harvey, NB; brothers, Alton Jewett (Vesta) of Smithfield and Paul Jewett (Elaine) of Temperance Vale, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Clair was predeceased by sister Lila Morehouse; infant brother, Dale LeRoy Jewett and brother, Walter Jewett.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Kevin Stockall officiating. Interment will be in the Sand Bank Cemetery, Magundy, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Building Fund, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a Charity of the Donors choice.
