Wayne Butler

BUTLER, WAYNE S. - May 4, 1951 - August 11, 2014 - The death of Wayne S. Butler, of Cape Spear, NB, occurred suddenly and unexpectedly, early Monday Morning, August 11, 2014 on the waters of the Northumberland Strait, doing that which he most enjoyed as a helping hand on his brother's fishing boat. He was 63. Born in Sackville, NB, Wayne was the eldest son of Daisy (Trenholm) and Stan Butler, Melrose. In addition to his parents, Wayne is survived by seven brothers, Danny, Stephen, Troy, Jody, Shawn, Gregory and Mark; four sisters, Sandra Reade, Patsy Scott, Karen Saulnier and Judy Butler; uncle, Bea Melanson; as well as several nieces and nephews. Wayne spent most of his life working locally in the woods and at Spray Lake, Alberta. He was also employed for some time at the Saint John Drydocks. When not in the woods, he would be working as a hired hand fishing lobster, scallops, mackerel, herring and hake in the Cape Tormentine and Cape Breton areas. For the past fifteen years, he resided in Cape Spear, at the home of Robert Grant, where he worked as a helping hand in the blueberry fields and in the woods cutting firewood during the winter season. In his spare moments he spent much time in his vegetable garden; he thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing, clamming and sporting about on his ATV. Despite declining health the past few years, he always volunteered his help when called upon by family, friends or neighbours.
As per Wayne's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations in Wayne's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (1-800-663-3600). Arrangements in care of Jones Funeral Home.
