CORMIER, DONALD J. - 1935 - 2014 - Donald Cormier, 79, of Saint-Antoine, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday August 9th, 2014 at the CHUDUMONT, Moncton. He was married to Odette (Cormier) Cormier. Born in Sainte-Marie de Kent, he was the son of the late John and the late Annie (LeBlanc) Cormier. Donald was the owner of Donald Cormier Garage from 1986 to 2000. Before that he was owner of the Garage Irving, Saint-Antoine for over 25 years. He was one of the first volunteer firemen in the Village of Saint-Antoine, having served for 32 years from 1950 to 1982 and was also a founding member of the «Club des pompiers». He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years Odette, his five children; Ginette Bourque-Landry (Hervé), Bertha Bourque (Ola), Roger (France) of Saint-Antoine, John (Dianne) of Dieppe, Janique Arsenault (Donald) of Sainte-Anne de Kent and his daughter-in-law Diane Cormier-Richard of Saint-Antoine, his fourteen grandchildren; Martha, Lise, Anie, Gilles, Mireille, Janique, Joline, Remi, Yves, Martin, Travis, Luc, Tyler and Tomi and three great grandchildren; Melody, Marissa and Nathaniel. He also leaves to mourn three sisters; Irène Gauvin of Moncton, Rita Cormier (Late Léonard) of Gardner, MA, Noella LeBlanc (Emery) of Saint-Antoine, two brothers, Gerald (Marie) and Adelire (Huberte) of Saint-Antoine and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by one son, Paul (1990), one grandson, Marco (1979), one granddaughter, Marie Deanne (1992), three brothers; Omer (1993), Deus (2000) and Laurie (2007).
Visitations will be held at the Saint-Antoine L’Ermite Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Saint-Antoine on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Thursday from 9 to 10:45 am. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Antoine Church on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 11:00 am with interment in the parish cemetery. In Donald’s memory donation may be made to the IWK or to the CHUDUMONT Foundation oncology department. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of the Extra-Mural and the CHU Dumont oncology unit 4C.
