It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dave Pastuck on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 while surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford in August of 1934, he was the son of the late Barney and Lillian (Matlock) Pastuck.
Dave was a coal miner for 40 years before retiring in 1993. He enjoyed camping at Mira Water Park, visits from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His many passions included food, tinkering with old cars, watching hockey and baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Kit (Matheson) Pastuck; sons, Ricky (Mary) Pastuck, Keith Pastuck, British Columbia; daughters, Brenda (Jens) Zinke, Quebec, Deanna (Bob) Woodland, Ontario, Tanya (Todd) Pastuck, Nova Scotia; grandchildren, Marie (Chris) MacLeod, Pamela Pastuck, Brandon (Bev) Pastuck, Tommy (Terra) Pastuck, Tyler Pastuck, Sebastian Zinke, Erika Zinke, Jackson Woodland, Abigail Woodland; great-grandchildren, Brendan and Connor MacLeod, Morgan and Ryder Dunham, Hayden and Brea Pastuck and Kadience Pastuck. He is also survived by brothers, Kenny (Agnes), Raymond (Sandra); sister, Hilda MacKinnon and sister-in-law, Mary, all of New Waterford and sister-in-law, Betty of Glace Bay.
Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by brothers, George, Tony, Russell, a brother in infancy and daughter-in-law, Debbie Pastuck.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McLellan Brothers. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Aug. 25th at 10 a.m. in the McLellan Brothers Chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Funeral service to be followed by a luncheon at the parish hall on Convent Street, New Waterford, all are welcome. Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
