WONG, MAJOR KENNETH SEEK SOON, CD (Ret.) - Major Kenneth Wong, CD (Ret.) peacefully, surrounded by family, August 24, 2014 at the age of 80 in Miramichi, New Brunswick. Beloved husband of 52 years to Astrid Gibbs and loving father of Normand (Karine Bolduc), Kenneth Wong, Jr. (Catherine Green) and Daniel. Proud Grampy of Benjamin, Samuel, Shannon, Isaac, MacKenzie, Chloe, Lilah and Clara. Born in Verdun, Quebec, he was the son of the late Wong Leung Wei “Ham” and Lau Shee “Lucie”. Fondly remembered by his siblings Alice, Edith, Norman and Pat. Predeceased by his sister Doreen. Also survived by in-laws Francoise Viger, Phylis and Arsene Turbide, Dorita and Bill Rushworth, Mildred and Paul Bray and Doreen Gibbs. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. After graduating from high school, Ken worked as a mechanic for Trans Canada Air and continued there until he started his degree in applied sciences at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. After graduation, he received a commission in the Royal Canadian Air Force and embarked on a 29-year career that had him posted at Chatham, NB, Zweibrucken, Germany and in Ottawa. After his career in the Air Force, he joined the public service where he would work an additional 11 years as an air crash investigator for Transport Canada. Although he had a distinguished career in public service, Ken was most proud of his children and grandchildren. His humility, generosity and loyalty are the hallmarks that guide his sons and their children. He was loved by his family and his friends and will be sorely missed. Many thanks to those who went out of their way to send their thoughts, prayers and love to Ken and his family. The family also wishes to thank the staff at the Critical Care Unit of the Miramichi Regional Hospital, and especially his nurses Janice, Dawn and Sara for their excellent care of Ken.
Friends may pay respects at Saint Anne Church in Baie Ste. Anne, New Brunswick on Wednesday, August 27 from 2 to 4 followed by the funeral mass at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paroisse Ste. Anne in Baie Sainte-Anne.
