It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Muriel Standing, 77, of Bible Hill, on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, with her family by her side.
Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Maude (Hinks) Lewis.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a great love for music, dancing and travelling with her husband Bob. She was a proud Cape Bretoner and also an avid Coronation Street Fan. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Truro. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, laughter, and the love of family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Robert Standing; daughters, Roberta (Byron) McCulloch of Hardwood Lands, Diane (Greg MacLean) of Salmon River, Debbie (Archie Rose) of Musquodoboit Harbour; grandchildren, Maggie (Stephan), Shawn (Jenny), Eric (Lakain), Hayley (Rodney), Roddie (Rebecca); great-grandchildren, Callum, Maelle; sisters, Bernice (Charlie) Sampson, Sadie (Ray) Joyes; brothers, Hector (Eileen), George (Sue), Dan; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Tom, sisters, Mary, Florence, Margaret, Hazel, Shirley, brothers, Jim, Bill, Stan.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro from where visitation will take place today from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. John’s Anglican Church, 25 Church St., Truro. The Rev. Lori Ramsey will officiate with a reception to follow in Kaulback Hall. A family burial will follow the reception in the Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro.
